Hmm。。。I really wanted to like this more than I did。 I feel like this novel had such great potential。 I liked the synopsis of the plot and thought the characters had potential after reading the blub and then starting the story。 At first, I was getting "Public Secrets" feels。 That novel, also by Nora Roberts, is one of my all time favorite books and a 5 star read for me。 But, I quickly discovered it was a poor man's "Public Secrets"。 The story seemed so choppy and I did not like the romance betwee Hmm。。。I really wanted to like this more than I did。 I feel like this novel had such great potential。 I liked the synopsis of the plot and thought the characters had potential after reading the blub and then starting the story。 At first, I was getting "Public Secrets" feels。 That novel, also by Nora Roberts, is one of my all time favorite books and a 5 star read for me。 But, I quickly discovered it was a poor man's "Public Secrets"。 The story seemed so choppy and I did not like the romance between Cate and Dillon。 I didn't feel that there was much of a connection between them and I didn't believe there was really something strong between them。 Argh。 Frustrating because Nora Roberts has been one of my favorite authors and some of her novels are some of my favorite books。 But lately, I haven't felt that spark or connection to her books。 Painful to say。 I still gave the book 2 stars because it had potential and I do like Nora's writing, but overall it missed the mark for me。 。。。more
Kara Mckeown,
It started kind of slow, but I liked the second half。
Karen Rulison,
Hideaway is described as suspenceful, however, it wasn't。 Details of Cate's kidnapping were pretty straightforward。 Made for easy guessing who the kidnappers were。 Principal family characters are likeable and make for a pleasant secondary storyline。 Hideaway is described as suspenceful, however, it wasn't。 Details of Cate's kidnapping were pretty straightforward。 Made for easy guessing who the kidnappers were。 Principal family characters are likeable and make for a pleasant secondary storyline。 。。。more

Loved this book。 Enjoyed the main characters and the plot turns。

A stand alone with a HEA。Not a whole lot of mystery。 But a good read regardless。
Linda Power,
I normally like Nora Roberts books, but this one missed the mark。 It was boring and predictable。 The Sullivan’s so sweet and kind, I wondered what world they were from。 All the characters blended together。
Jaraka Davis,
It’s been a long while since I’ve read a Nora Roberts romance/mystery。 I enjoyed it。 It was almost 2 books in one。 The first half was her childhood and the mystery was central。 The second half was her adult life and was romance focused。 I notice I quite like reading books where the protagonist is rich。 It’s a marvel to watch her go through all this trauma and not once worry about money or a job or a place to live。 It’s a bit funny because it’s not at all relatable, but it allows the story to mov It’s been a long while since I’ve read a Nora Roberts romance/mystery。 I enjoyed it。 It was almost 2 books in one。 The first half was her childhood and the mystery was central。 The second half was her adult life and was romance focused。 I notice I quite like reading books where the protagonist is rich。 It’s a marvel to watch her go through all this trauma and not once worry about money or a job or a place to live。 It’s a bit funny because it’s not at all relatable, but it allows the story to move forward unencumbered by something so trivial as making a living。 Ha。 Okay but for real: need to heal? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 While I’ve always been a big fan of Nora Roberts and her alias JD Robb, the last few books have fallen really flat for me。 I’ve quickly grown tired of her awkward phrasing and use of adjectives for nouns, but at least I could count on some solid hot love scenes and chemistry between the two main characters。 Unfortunately among the 454 pages for this one, we got two bland sex scenes and little to no character development。 Every character just felt so boring and stale, and I found myself skipping While I’ve always been a big fan of Nora Roberts and her alias JD Robb, the last few books have fallen really flat for me。 I’ve quickly grown tired of her awkward phrasing and use of adjectives for nouns, but at least I could count on some solid hot love scenes and chemistry between the two main characters。 Unfortunately among the 454 pages for this one, we got two bland sex scenes and little to no character development。 Every character just felt so boring and stale, and I found myself skipping over sections to get to the end。 The plot behind the kidnapping was laughable as was the final “action” scene。 I received a ARC from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

3 1/2 stars。 A good read, but pretty predictable。 Enjoyed the main characters。

This is one of my favorites, I think Nora Roberts is an marvelous writer and doesn't get the credit she deserves, Sure Nora Roberts is miraculously wealthy。。。 $390 Million BUT The work ethic of Nora Roberts astounds me。 Every year, she puts out at least three (often four) new books, If a book says it’s written by Nora Roberts or her pen name, J。D。 Robb, then she wrote it herself。 And she’s not doing this for money; with over two hundred books published, the woman is set for life。 No, she writes This is one of my favorites, I think Nora Roberts is an marvelous writer and doesn't get the credit she deserves, Sure Nora Roberts is miraculously wealthy。。。 $390 Million BUT The work ethic of Nora Roberts astounds me。 Every year, she puts out at least three (often four) new books, If a book says it’s written by Nora Roberts or her pen name, J。D。 Robb, then she wrote it herself。 And she’s not doing this for money; with over two hundred books published, the woman is set for life。 No, she writes because it’s her passion, and I respect her immensely。 。。。more

I'd never read a Nora Roberts novel before this one and doubt I'll read another。 Found this one slow, boring and predictable。 Given to my wife by a neighbour, I only read it because it was in the box of books we packed for our 2-month trip around Australia。 Now that we've both read it, we'll be donating it to the bookshelves of the next place we stay at I'd never read a Nora Roberts novel before this one and doubt I'll read another。 Found this one slow, boring and predictable。 Given to my wife by a neighbour, I only read it because it was in the box of books we packed for our 2-month trip around Australia。 Now that we've both read it, we'll be donating it to the bookshelves of the next place we stay at 。。。more

Another great one from Roberts。 A tiny bit predictable, but still fun to read/listen to

As others have mentioned, there is a good story hidden under too much filler and repetition。 At times, I found myself skipping over parts of the text because I was more interested in seeing where the plot was going than long descriptive passages。 The main characters were endearing, but the whole family strong theme has been used a little too often by Ms。 Roberts。 Is it the publisher that wants pages or does the author feel the reader needs all this unnecessary information?I am sorry to report th As others have mentioned, there is a good story hidden under too much filler and repetition。 At times, I found myself skipping over parts of the text because I was more interested in seeing where the plot was going than long descriptive passages。 The main characters were endearing, but the whole family strong theme has been used a little too often by Ms。 Roberts。 Is it the publisher that wants pages or does the author feel the reader needs all this unnecessary information?I am sorry to report that this may be my last time reaching for a new novel by Nora Roberts。 I still re-read favourites from the past which have stories that are tightly woven。 。。。more
Diane Schulz,
Very goodThis is an excellent version of Nora Roberts writing 。 I was immersed from beginning to end。Great story line。 Enjoy。
Gail Daley,
A slow startThis book covers several decades of the heroines life。 Roberts is a master at this style of suspense and has used it in several novels。 I would say this book falls under the heading of Romantic Suspense instead of mystery。 The identity of the villains is revealed fairly early in the story: it’s just a matter of figuring out the how rather than The Who。
Noreen,
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job with the many characters。 Interesting characters and a plot that takes off quickly。
Heather Jenney,
Not as much of a triller as I thought。 More like a family drama but still interesting。 Found it hard to follow the time line。 Was always looking back to see how old everyone was now。 Good beach read and what’s not to like about a steamy rancher!

Marilyn K,
I enjoyed this。 It was a fairly quick moving story line, with action, but not a lot of gore, thank goodness。 The characters were very likeable and interesting。 It was nice to see the romance develop over the years, and to have a happy ending。

When Caitlyn Sullivan was ten years old, she was abducted from the family ranch in Big Sur, California。 She manages to free herself and escape, finding herself in the farmhouse owned by Callan Cooper’s mother and grandmother。She discovers a great betrayal and even greater love, that will play out over the next twenty years。This is a well-crafted romance/thriller novel, with terrific character development, carefully sculpted plot and wonderful description。 It’s definitely worth reading!
